High-Fat Diet Helps Cure Local Boy of Seizures | News

For Thanksgiving, most of us have turkey, stuffing, and rolls. But not one little boy in Forest Lake.

That's because he's on a special diet where he can only eat things high in fat, such as butter, heavy cream, and bacon.

Doctors aren't sure why, but this special diet helps him control his seizures in a way that regular medicine can't.

"We both were a little skeptical," said his mom Tammy Collins. "I mean, eating cream and butter? We thought, 'Is that really going to work?'"

But it does, according to doctors at Gillette Children's Hospital. Cole's parents say he's been seizure-free for three and a half years.
